Prior to starting my journey to creating A.Reed Fitness, I was a nurse in Women’s Health Care. During health visits, I consistently saw women with a list of medications 2-3 pages long. What stood out to me most were the certain diagnoses and medications that could have been avoided if these women chose to invest their time and money into creating a balanced, healthy lifestyle. It was through these observations that helped me realize that although I enjoyed nursing, my true passion was rooted in health & fitness. I needed to be on the other end – helping individuals create solutions when the doctor said, “Start exercising and clean up your diet.” With this calling out to me, and over 10 years of experience coaching competitive athletes, I became a certified trainer. Since becoming certified, I have turned my purpose into encouraging male and female clients of all ages and abilities to become their best self.
I am a constant success story in the making, just as each one of you are! Being a former college athlete, health and fitness was something ingrained in me at a very early age. My journey made a pivotal shift when I decided to fulfill a dream to compete in a fitness competition. This required a major lifestyle change and finding a coach who believed in and pushed me beyond what I thought were my limits. The feeling was amazing – I accomplished something I always knew I could do. However, post-show I struggled with things such as body dysmorphia and eating disorders that I kept very quiet and didn’t share with anybody. I was ashamed of the thoughts and struggles nobody understood and struggled to maneuver through something I had never experienced. Over time, I realized I had to discover a new way to create a positive, balanced lifestyle to make myself better mentally, physically, & spiritually.
All of this is to say: I understand what it’s like to doubt yourself and have the feeling of, “Where do I start? How do I get there? Can I do this?”
Know that it is okay to invest in resources to help guide you in the direction of not “finding” balance but CREATING YOUR balance. I believe strongly in the power of encouraging others to discover their inner strength and self-empowerment. I use this philosophy to create attainable challenges that allow clients to feel their accomplishments through my training style.
